Apple introduced the much-awaited call recording support into iPhones with the iOS 18.1, allowing iPhone users to record. Not only this, but the feature also integrates transcribed phone calls directly from their device. Previously, this function was only available on Android devices, as Apple had privacy concerns. Now, users can conveniently record conversations, interviews, or personal discussions for reference.
Record calls on iPhone: Steps to follow
Update to iOS 18.1 or later
Navigate to Settings > General > Software Update to check if your device is running the latest version.
Enable call recording
Go to Settings > Apps > Phone and turn on the Call Recording option.
Start recording a call
When making or receiving a call, a waveform icon will appear in the top left corner of the screen.
Tap the waveform icon to begin recording. An automated voice notification will inform all participants that the call is being recorded.
Save and stop recording
The recording is automatically saved in the Notes app when the call ends or when you manually stop recording.
To stop recording manually, tap the Stop Recording button or end the call.
How to access call recordings
Apple stores all recorded calls in the Notes app, along with their transcriptions. To retrieve them:
Open the Notes app.
Navigate to the Call Recordings folder.
Select a recording to play the audio.View the transcript or summary of the conversation.
Share the recording if needed.
This feature enhances convenience for users who need to document conversations while maintaining transparency. The automatic transcription further simplifies the process by providing a written record of discussions. While Apple ensures privacy measures are in place, users should still adhere to legal and ethical considerations when recording calls.
