If you are preparing for exams like JEE Main or the SAT, you already know how intense the process can get. For years, the default advice has been simple: move to Kota or join an expensive coaching centre. But that may no longer be the only option.
Google has added a new feature to its AI chatbot, Gemini, that lets students take full-length practice tests for JEE Main. Think of it as a mock test series that you can access from your phone or laptop, without packing your bags or spending a fortune.
Here is how it works in simple terms. You open Gemini and take a complete JEE Main mock test, just like you would in a coaching institute. The questions are not random or low quality. Google says they are based on verified study material from well-known Indian education platforms like Physics Wallah and Careers360.
Once you finish the test, Gemini does something many students struggle to do on their own. It breaks down your performance. It tells you which chapters you are good at, where you lost marks, and what topics need more attention. If you get a question wrong, it can explain the correct answer in plain language, not textbook jargon. Based on your results, it can even help you make a study plan, so you know what to revise first instead of guessing.
This is not just about JEE. Google has already rolled out similar practice tools for the SAT, which means students preparing for international exams can use the same approach. The idea is to turn Gemini into a proper study partner, not something you use to quickly look up answers.
Google is also adding these exam prep tools to AI Mode in Search. One useful feature here is Canvas. You can upload your class notes, and Canvas can help turn them into short study guides, quizzes, or revision questions. So if your notes are messy or incomplete, AI can help you organise them.
Many Indian students are already using Gemini to study physics, chemistry, maths, and other STEM subjects. Another Google tool, NotebookLM, can turn your notes into flash cards, practice questions, or even audio summaries you can listen to while travelling. These tools also work in multiple Indian languages, which is a big help if English is not your strongest subject.
Google is also thinking beyond students. It plans to work with government bodies like the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Chaudhary Charan Singh University to bring AI into teaching and administration. Through its charity arm, Google.org, it is funding AI tools for government education platforms, including reading support and English learning assistants.
The big takeaway is this: you still need discipline, practice, and hard work. AI will not clear JEE for you. But with tools like Gemini, you may no longer need to leave home and move to Kota just to get good quality preparation. For many students, that alone could change everything.
