Google’s Quick Share now lets you resume file transfers even if the connection breaks

Google’s popular file sharing tool, Quick Share, is one of the most commonly used file sharing tools on Android, as it works seamlessly by creating a temporary connection between two devices and sending huge files wirelessly without using any mobile data, in a matter of minutes. Now, the tech giant is making this feature more convenient with an update to Google Play Services.

With the second February 2025 Google Play Services update, Google has confirmed that Quick Share now lets you resume file transfers ‘over Wi-Fi or mobile data even if the sender or receiver loses direct connection.’ Previously, if users lost the connection, while the file transfer was going on, the transfer would stop abruptly and users would have to start over again.

Thankfully, with this new update, your file transfer would resume by using Wi-Fi or mobile data, instead of forcing users to start all over again. This feature was released by Samsung recently with the One UI 7.0 beta update and now it has appeared in Android's default file sharing tool. However, transfer speeds will naturally suffer if you don’t have good internet or are in an area with low coverage.
