Google is making it easier to reply to emails on the Android Gmail app. According to the latest blog on the Google Workspace webpage, the company has announced that a new ‘Quick Reply’ feature will be added to reply directly from the bottom of the conversation, without opening another screen. It will be presented as a chat box similar to other common messaging platforms like WhatsApp or Messenger.

In the latest Workspace blog post, Google added: “Starting today, you can reply to emails directly from the bottom of the conversation, without opening a new screen, making it easier to reference the email you’re replying to.” Further, the company stresses that this new experience is quick, and is best for sending informal messages, while for longer and more formal responses, one can simply expand the text box to access more formatting options.

Previously, Gmail users had the option to Reply, Reply All, or Forward a message while remaining in the conversation view of the Gmail Android app. Subsequently, when users selected one of these options, they were redirected to a new email writing section to send the reply.

To use the ‘Quick Reply’ feature in the Gmail app on Android, you need to open an email, then tap the text box at the bottom, and type your short reply to send the email. Users can also switch to the full-screen compose view to write a longer message or a formal reply.
