Apple has rolled out iOS 18.5 beta 3 to developers, offering another look at what’s likely to be the final leg of the iOS 18 cycle before the curtain rises on iOS 19 at WWDC in June.
The update, which is now available for developers testing pre-release software, is light on headline features. So far, the only noticeable changes include minor adjustments to Apple Mail’s category filters and tweaks to profile picture settings. This isn’t surprising, as Apple has already delivered most of the promised features tied to iOS 18.4 earlier this month, and is now shifting its attention to the next major version.
Still, it’s worth noting that last year’s iOS 17.5 managed to sneak in a few surprises late in the cycle — including News+ puzzle games and expanded support for detecting trackers like AirTags across platforms. So while iOS 18.5 isn’t expected to deliver anything earth-shattering, a quiet late-cycle addition isn’t entirely off the table.
For now, developers can expect refinements and bug fixes, not big swings. As for iOS 19, all eyes will be on WWDC 2025, where Apple is expected to showcase the next wave of features — possibly with a heavier dose of AI this time around.
