Apple is reportedly working on an upcoming framework called AppMigrationKit, which could make switching between Android and iPhones a lot easier. This tool is designed to simplify the transfer of app data between iOS and Android devices and will be compatible with upcoming versions of iOS 26. Moreover, the AppMigrationKit would support both import and export of app data, providing a system-level way to move third-party app data to non-Apple platforms.

According to a report by 9to5Mac, the latest iOS 26.1 beta contains a documentation, named AppMigrationKit, which will enable developers to integrate their apps into a one-time data transfer system. It is reportedly aimed at simplifying data transfers between iPhones and Android devices so that when a user switches phones, key information from participating apps can move along too.

The documentation also states that developers can choose whether their apps will import data, export data, or do both. Apple has also clarified that AppMigrationKit is intended solely for cross-platform transfers and will not support data migration between similar ecosystem devices, such as between iOS and iPadOS devices.
