The rumors have been doing a while but as always Apple is tightlipped about it. We are talking about Apple’s first-ever foldable iPhone, expected to launch in 2026. The highly anticipated device could mark a new chapter in the iPhone book.
One of the key features of a foldable phone is the hinge. Rumors suggest that for the foldable iPhone, Apple could go for a liquid metal hinge, which is claimed to enhance durability while eliminating the visible crease that has plagued other foldable devices. This move is expected to address concerns over long-term wear and tear, a common issue in the foldable smartphone segment.
The foldable iPhone is speculated to feature a 7.8-inch inner display and a 5.5-inch cover screen, creating a tablet-like experience when unfolded. The main display could adopt a 4:3 aspect ratio, optimising app compatibility and media playback.
Rumours suggest that Apple is also focusing on premium materials for the device. The foldable iPhone is expected to feature a titanium chassis for enhanced durability while maintaining an ultra-thin profile—measuring just 9.2mm when folded and 4.6mm when unfolded. The device could also include a dual-camera system, ensuring high-quality photography in both folded and unfolded modes.
Pricing for the foldable iPhone is projected to be between $2,000 and $2,500, making it one of Apple’s most expensive iPhones to date.
Apple’s entry into the foldable market will put it in direct competition with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series and other high-end foldable smartphones. The device has reportedly entered the New Product Introduction phase at Foxconn, with mass production slated for late 2026.
