Amazon is now making it easier for you to get lab tests done without leaving your home. The company has launched a new service called Amazon Diagnostics, which promises to collect your blood samples in under 60 minutes and deliver digital reports in as little as 6 hours.
This new service is available in Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad, and covers more than 450 pin codes. You can book over 800 different tests directly from the Amazon app, pick a time slot, and track everything, from the sample pickup to the final report.
To make this possible, Amazon has partnered with Orange Health Labs, a Bengaluru-based diagnostics company that already offers quick, home-based testing in many cities.
So how does it work? It’s pretty simple. You go on the Amazon app, select the test you need, and book a time that suits you. A medical professional comes to your home to collect the sample, and your report is sent to your phone usually within a few hours for basic tests.
Amazon says it wants to cut down on the usual delays and confusion that come with getting lab tests done. No more travelling to clinics, waiting in long queues, or struggling to find a nearby lab.
Jayaramakrishnan Balasubramanian, who leads Amazon’s healthcare efforts in India, said the goal is to make health services “easier and more reliable” for everyone.
This new service is part of Amazon’s plan to build a complete healthcare platform. It already runs Amazon Pharmacy, where you can order medicines, and Amazon Clinic, which offers online doctor consultations.
Now, with lab tests added to the mix, Amazon is offering everything from talking to a doctor, getting tests done, and ordering medicines—all from one app.
The service is currently limited to six cities, but if it takes off, Amazon may expand it to more locations soon.
