Google had given its employees time till December 3rd to upload proof of vaccination or approval for medical or religious exemptions.
According to an internal memo that was leaked on to the web, Google is extending that deadline to January 13 but this time, it is willing to fire employees who do not get the shot.
The memo seen by CNBC (via The Verge), gives Google employees until January 13 to co-operate and get vaccinated. Failure to do so, would result in an immediate 30-day administrative leave.

If, after the 30 days, the employee is still unvaccinated, then Google will take further action including putting them on unpaid leave for six months. This can further escalate into termination of services.
Speaking with The Verge, Google spokesperson Lora Lee Erickson told the publication, "As we’ve stated before, our vaccination requirements are one of the most important ways we can keep our workforce safe and keep our services running. We’re committed to doing everything possible to help our employees who can get vaccinated do so, and firmly stand behind our vaccination policy."
There are some options for employees who wish to remain unvaccinated, like positions that aren't covered by the new policy or a remote work position that does not require them to be in office.

Late last month, CNBC reported that several employees within Google had signed a mandate opposing Google's vaccination drive.
They told the company to retract its vaccine requirements and create a new mandate that is inclusive of everyone. It also urged employees who were unvaccinated, to not let the new policies affect them and get the vaccination.
