U.S. President-elect Donald Trump recently outlined his expansionist agenda, which includes seeking control of the Panama Canal and acquiring Greenland. He refused to rule out military or economic action to pursue these objectives, stressing their importance for U.S. economic and national security. Trump suggested imposing tariffs on Denmark if it resists selling Greenland, a self-governing territory, which Denmark has made clear is not for sale. Meanwhile, Trump’s son, Donald Jr., arrived in Greenland for a private visit. In addition, Trump announced plans to rename the Gulf of Mexico to the "Gulf of America" and reiterated his promise to impose tariffs on Mexico and Canada. The press conference, held on January 7, came a day after Congress certified Trump’s election victory. Trump also discussed ongoing legal battles, including a court decision related to his conviction for hush money payments and a temporary block on the release of a report about his handling of classified documents.
