Live: Can Nifty extend gains to the sixth trading session? | Opening Bell

Nifty extended its winning streak for the fifth straight session, closing above 24,850, with the upmove largely driven by strong gains in IT stocks. The IT index emerged as the top sectoral gainer, providing the biggest boost to the market, even as the Auto index witnessed profit-booking in the last session. While the Nifty Midcap index ended flat, smallcap stocks continued to shine, reflecting sustained investor interest in broader markets. This morning global cues were positive as all three key US benchmarks closed at record highs overnight, though futures traded mixed. Wall Street’s rally came even as President Donald Trump pressed the European Union to impose 100 percent tariffs on India and China, while also remarking that India and the US would continue discussions on trade barriers. In Asia, markets opened mostly higher, tracking the strength from Wall Street.
