Varun Chakravarthy has been selected for India's tour of Australia. The Kolkata Knight Riders spinner has taken 13 wickets in 11 games in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, including a five-wicket haul.
The news may have been surreal for Varun as he wasn't expecting a maiden call-up for the Indian team. Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has lauded the 29-year-old's achievement.
"It (his story) does put a smile on my face. It just tells you dreams do come true. He had given up and restarted, he wanted to become a fast bowler. Through all those things, you must believe in yourself and your dreams come true," Gavaskar said.Gavaskar also said Varun was rewarded for his fine performance in the IPL.
