iPhones in 2020 to get new OLED screen sizes, 5G-compatibility: Report

Apple is said to adjust the size of the premium-end iPhones for packing the 5G modems.

Apple is a few months away from the official launch of the 2019 iPhones. However, before the unveiling of this year’s iPhones, a report by a popular analyst has revealed Apple’s plans for iPhones to be launched in 2020.

According to renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple would continue to release three iPhones in 2020, with all three getting OLED screens, reported 9to5Mac. The iPhone XR currently comes with an LCD screen, and even its successor is said to get the same.

In terms of screen size, Kuo stated that the two premium iPhones would have 5.4-inch and 6.7-inch displays, whereas the lower-end iPhone would come with a 6.1-inch display. Apple is said to adjust the size of the premium-end iPhones for packing the 5G modems. Kuo added that the iPhone XR series in 2020 would only be compatible with 4G LTE networks.

The report falls in line with a claim made by DigiTimes that stated the iPhones in 2020 would come in 5.42-inch, 6.06-inch and 6.67-inch displays, respectively. It would be the first time after 2017 that Apple would change the screen size of the iPhone from 5.8-inch found on iPhone X and XS to 5.4-inch in 2020. The Max variant would get bigger from 6.5-inch to 6.7-inch next year. Previously, it was reported that Apple would bring Touch-ID back to iPhones in 2020 by offering an all-screen Touch ID authentication support using ‘acoustic fingerprint technology'.
