Parliamentary committee questions MHA officials on security, Aadhar

A parliamentary panel on Friday questioned top officials of the home ministry on various aspects of the national security and the privacy issues related to the Aadhar card, officials said.

A parliamentary panel on Friday questioned top officials of the home ministry on various aspects of the national security and the privacy issues related to the Aadhar card, officials said.

The parliamentary standing committee on home affairs, headed by P Chidambaram, questioned Union Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi, Home Secretary-designate Rajiv Gauba and others regarding the prevailing security situation in the country and on the implementation of Aadhar and issues related to it.

The committee also asked the officials about the concerns raised by various individuals on the privacy issues related to Aadhar, the officials said.

The home ministry officials explained various steps taken for the country's security, including that in Jammu and Kashmir.
