What CEO Tim Cook has to say on Apple strengthening its connections with Vietnam

Apple said that it will increase spending on suppliers in Vietnam, along with new progress in the initiative to support clean water for local schools.

On the back of Apple CEO Tim Cook’s visit to Vietnam, the company has announced big investments in the country. Apple said that it will increase spending on suppliers in Vietnam, along with new progress in the initiative to support clean water for local schools.

The company has spent nearly 400 trillion VND since 2019 through the local supply chain and has more than doubled the annual spending for Vietnam in the same period. In a post on its newsroom page, Apple said it started operating in Vietnam more than a decade ago and is currently supporting more than 200,000 jobs across the country through direct jobs, supply chains and iOS app economy.

Vietnam's applied economy continues to be a driving force for growth with the number of jobs nearly tripling since 2017, claims Apple. Furthermore,  Vietnam is among the top 5 countries in the world in the field of game production for phones.

Vietnam has emerged as an important market for Apple as it looks to diversify manufacturing out of China. Reports suggest that Apple has turned to Vietnam for manufacturing of MacBooks, Apple Watch and the iPad.
