OnePlus rolls out its answer to Google’s Magic Eraser

Back in 2021, Google showcased a rather nifty tool called Magic Eraser for Pixel phones. As the name suggests, the tool could erase unwanted objects/people from images using artificial intelligence. Jumping on the AI bandwagon is none other than OnePlus, which has announced a similar tool called AI eraser.

The AI Eraser will roll out to OnePlus devices this month, starting with the OnePlus 12, OnePlus 12R, OnePlus 11, OnePlus Open, and OnePlus Nord CE 4. Users can expect to remove objects and in process enhance their photos.

OnePlus claims that it has built the tool from scratch and also indicated that it already has its own large language models. By eliminating the need for complex manual editing or the use of dedicated photo editing software, AI Eraser makes image editing accessible to all users regardless of previous photo editing experience, said OnePlus.

Through this advanced visual understanding, AI Eraser is able to intelligently substitute unwanted objects with contextually appropriate elements that naturally elevate the photo’s appeal, empowering users with the ability to make high-quality photo edits anywhere and at any time.”
