Microsoft's GitHub has 13 mn Indian developers, to overtake US by 2027

Nadella said he’s “very excited” about Indian languages being integrated into GitHub co-pilot, and it is now imperative for developers to build their own AI applications.

Microsoft-owned software platform GitHub has 13.2 million Indian developers using the platform, and is expected to overtake the US as the largest developer community by 2027.

“I was pretty stunned when I saw the number of a Gen (generative) AI projects on GitHub with Indian contributors next to the United States. It's just awesome to see the human capital of this country, really embrace this new platform and effectively lead the new platform shift,” Nadella said at the company’s “Microsoft Build” event in Bengaluru, addressing its India developer community and technologists.

Microsoft GitHub is an open-source software that allows developers to store and share their computer code, collaborate with others on coding projects, and track changes made to code over time.
