When it initially launched the iPhone 15, Apple had promised the battery would last 500 charging cycles while retaining 80 percent of battery health.

According to Engadget, the revised estimate can be achieved without any hardware or software updates and coincide with new EU regulations that will see energy grades being assigned for a smartphone's battery longevity.
The new estimates were announced after the company retested the long-term battery health of the iPhone 15 series and found the phones could last longer than they had initially thought. Apple will update all of its support documents with the new figures.

Apple tested all four variants of the smartphone (15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max) by draining and charging the phone batteries 1000 times under certain conditions, which were meant to simulate normal phone usage.
With the iOS 17.4 update, Apple will start showing users battery cycle counts under Battery Health in Settings. The company says that the ideal operating temperatures for the phones were between 62 and 72 degrees Fahrenheit.
