Swiss food major Nestle India‘s flagship product Maggi has resurrected itself after it was forced off the shelves fifteen months ago following allegations that the popular noodle contained seven-times the permissible level of lead.
The agreement also requires ASCI to report to FSSAI non- compliance of ASCI's decisions for further action as required per provisions of the Food Safety Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) Act, Agarwal said after signing the agreement.
"While we appreciate the case... that highlights issues and points out various risks associated with the food we consume, there is also serious concern in terms of implications when such studies are reported in the media and tend to create panic," Food Safety Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) CEO Pawan Agarwal told reporters here.
In a bid to ensure quality of imported pulses, food safety watchdog FSSAI has issued draft quality regulations and fixed the foreign matter limit at a maximum 3 per cent by weight.
