State-run NTPC has threatened to snap power supply to Reliance Infra-backed discoms in Delhi -- BRPL and BYPL -- if they fail to pay around Rs 1,300 crore dues by midnight on May 9.
The court deferred the crucial hearing after the counsel appearing for Delhi government and the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India said that their appeals against the High Court verdict are in the process of being filed and hence, it would be proper to hear all of them together.
“We are public service utility company and we work for benefit of consumers and are accountable to Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) according to the Electricity Act," said Praveer Sinha, MD & CEO of Tata Power Delhi Distribution.
NTPC had said BSES Yamuna Power, which sells electricity in the central and eastern parts of the city of about 16 million people, must pay its bills or be cut off from February 11.

State-run DVC on Thursday said it may have to stop power supply to Delhi, as the two distribution companies BSES Rajdhani Power and BSES Yamuna Power are yet to make outstanding payments to the company.
