Bangalore: The Karnataka High Court on Thursday granted partial relief to former Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa in the government land denotification cases against him. The court granted Yeddyurappa bail in one of the two cases and is set to hear the other land denotification case on Thursday afternoon. If the former chief minister gets bail in the second case then he will be out of judicial custody.
A Lokayukta court extended his judicial custody on Thursday morning. But, within ten minutes the Karnataka High Court granted him bail based on his regular bail plea in one of the two cases. The former Karnataka chief minister spent Diwali in jail after he withdrew his interim bail plea on October 24.
Yeddyurappa was arrested on October 15 after a special Lokayukta court charged him in alleged irregularities in denotifying government land.
However, Yeddyurappa was shifted to a hospital on October 16 citing chest pains. He returned to jail on Wednesday after getting discharged from the hospital on Tuesday only to get admitted in another hospital the very same evening.
There are five cases against Yeddyurappa. However, he is in jail in connection with only two cases.
