Four private school staff booked for mentally harassing Class 2 student in Kanpur

Four staff members of a private school here have been booked for alleged mental harassment an eight-year-old boy after accusing him of stealing a pen, police said on Friday.

The incident came to light after the Class 2 student began displaying signs of being disturbed, by writing "Help" in his books and the walls of his house and crying in his sleep, according to a complaint filed by the boy's parents.

Group forcibly removes Christmas decorations in Indore; police inquiry underway

Right-wing activists created a ruckus and forcibly removed a Christmas tree and other Xmas decorations from a food street in Indore, police said on Friday.

A video of the incident that took place on Thursday night has gone viral on social media. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajesh Dandotiya confirmed the video and told PTI that the vandalism appears to have taken place at The Hub food street in the city’s Lasudia police station area. -- PTI

Normalcy was returning to violence-hit areas of Assam's West Karbi Anglong district with no fresh incidents reported, while the state government, autonomous council, and protestors will hold a tripartite meeting in Guwahati on Friday.

Strict security vigil is being maintained in the affected areas, after two persons were killed and several others, including police personnel, were injured in violence earlier this week, they said. "The situation is normal now. However, prohibitory orders, night curfew and suspension of mobile internet services in the affected areas continue to be in force," the official said. -- PTI

A 25-year-old woman was shot at inside a club in Gurugram after she allegedly refused a marriage proposal from a man, police said on Thursday. The incident took place in the early hours of December 20 on MG Road. News Live: Four arrested for pre-Christmas vandalism in Assam school

Four persons associated with the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal were arrested on Thursday for vandalising decorative items used for Christmas celebrations at a school and damaging festive articles in shops in Assam’s Nalbari district, police said.

The incident took place on Wednesday when the accused allegedly entered St Mary’s School at Panigaon village within Belsor police station limits and burnt and damaged decorative items meant for Christmas celebrations. "Miscreants who vandalised the school have been arrested. They entered the premises unlawfully," a senior official said. -- PTI

Delhi News Live: Man stabbed to death in Welcome area, probe underway

A man was stabbed to death in the Welcome area of the national capital on Thursday, said officials. The incident occured at around 8.09 pm on Thursday, at Z-Block near the Welcome Medical Store, under the limits of Welcome Police Station. The deceased has been identified as Suraj.

Upon receiving the information about the incident, the police officials from the Welcome PS reached the spot and found the victim injured. He was immediately taken to Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital, where he was declared "brought dead" by the attending doctors. -- PTI
