Winter Session of Parliament to begin on November 25, end on December 20

The Winter Session of Parliament will start on November 25 and conclude on December 20. The session is expected to take up several landmark legislation for consideration, including the Waqf (Amendment) Bill.

"Hon’ble President, on the recommendation of Government of India, has approved the proposal for summoning of both the Houses of Parliament for the Winter Session, 2024 from 25th November to 20th December, 2024 (subject to exigencies of parli parliamentary business)," Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju tweeted on X.

Rijiju also announced that on November 26 on the occasion of Constitution Day), the 75th Anniversary of the adoption of Constitution, the event would be celebrated in the Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan.

The Centre is also expected to introduce a Bill to push big-ticket reforms in insurance laws in the upcoming winter session of Parliament, to further liberalise the sector. The plan, reportedly is to increase the foreign direct investment (FDI) limit to 100% from 74% at present, and introduce composite licensing of life and non-life insurance.
