Two sitting Members of Parliament from the Rajya Sabha resigned from the membership of the Upper House after meeting Chairman Jagdeep Dhankar on Thursday.
This comes as major setback for Jagan Mohan Reddy's party that already suffered poll drubbing in the last Lok Sabha elections at the hands of rival Telugu Desam Party (TDP).
YSRCP sitting MPs Beeda Masthan Rao and Mopidevi Venkataramana Rao's resignations have been accepted by Dhankar.
Media reports mentioned that both the leaders are expected to join the TDP soon.
Masthan Rao would be asked to return to the Upper House as a TDP candidate.
Mopidevi who was seen as a Jagan loyalist was miffed with the YSRCP since the party denied him a ticket from the Repalle Assembly seat in the recent elections. He will be asked to contest for an MLC post in the state assembly.
The NDA has got a majority in the Upper House after it won 10 out of 11 seats on Tuesday, taking the total strength to 114.
