The ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Andhra Pradesh has suspended its Satyavedu MLA after a female party colleague accused Koneti Adimulam of sexual harassment, reports said on September 5.

The woman had urged party president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu to act against Adimulam.

Andhra TDP chief Palla Srinivasa Rao announced Adimulam's suspension within hours of the allegations coming to light, reports said.

The 66-year-old MLA has been accused of persistent harassment and abuse. The victim alleged that Adimulam forced her into sexual acts and warned her against reporting incident, reports said.

Adimulam, previously with the YSR Congress, switched sides after he was refused a ticket ahead of the recent assembly elections.
