Prime Minister Narendra Modi is chairing a high-level meeting at his 7, Lok Kalyan Marg residence to discuss next-generation economic reforms. The meeting sees participation from the CCEA, Economic Advisory Council and NITI Aayog, with the agenda covering reforms in infrastructure, manufacturing, investments, and regulatory ease. Prime Minister is also expected to seek suggestions on taxation and GST simplification.
The meeting comes just days after the Prime Minister, in his Independence Day address from the Red Fort, announced a major push for GST reforms.
He declared that Next-Generation GST reforms would be rolled out by Diwali, aimed at easing the tax burden on everyday essentials. “The government will introduce Next Generation GST reforms that will reduce the tax load on the common man. Consider it a Diwali gift for you,” the Prime Minister said, stressing that these changes are designed to provide direct relief to citizens while boosting economic momentum.
Reiterating his vision, PM Modi said India should focus not on others’ shortcomings but on extending its own trajectory of growth. In a world increasingly driven by economic self-interest, he underlined the need to strengthen national capabilities, broaden opportunities, and empower the people.
The upcoming reforms, he noted, will usher in a new phase of accelerated governance transformation, making India more resilient, inclusive, and competitive on the global stage.
