India's coordinated counterstrikes and air defence on Thursday neutralised Pakistan's second wave of drone and missile attacks in 24 hours, targeting over 15 cities. Blackouts were enforced across multiple states amid heightened alert.

According to News18 Hindi, Pakistan carried out this attack from many fronts simultaneously in "Hamas style".  Defence ministry sources had told News18 Hindi earlier that Pakistan did not just want to attack but wanted to test India's air defence system.

This was also confirmed by Indian Army Colonel Sofiya Qureshi during the MEA briefing on Friday evening.  According to her, Pakistan used Türkiye’s Songar drones built by Turkish weapons developer Asisgard in attacks targeted at military installations in India.

The press briefing was attended by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Colonel Sophia Qureshi, and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh.

The drone intrusion was described by the government Friday as an action to gauge Indian air defence systems and gather intelligence.
