Parliament Session Highlights: First day’s session will be held in old Parliament building

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday alleged that the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in Telangana is the 'B team' of the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao have "betrayed" the state.

Addressing a rally in Tukkuguda ahead of the Telangana assembly polls, he said: “BRS is the BJP’s B team, hence it is helping the BJP...Modi ji and KCR (K Chandrashekhar Rao) may appear different but they are the same in their ways...Modi ji lies, KCR also lies, both of them have betrayed Telangana.”

“We wanted to know why this five-day session of Parliament has been called, there is no clarity on that. There was a strong emphasis on the Women Reservation Bill to be passed in this session and we wanted the Manipur issue, price rise, unemployment and many other issues to be discussed...we also wanted the suspension of Raghav Chadha and Sanjay Singh to be revoked,” says DMK MP Kanimozhi after the all-party meeting

"He (PM Modi) took the lead...when we got the presidency (G20), he was very clear...he wrote to other 19 leaders saying this is India's firm view and asked for their opinion...if we are now trying to build a more socially just country within India, should we not have a socially just international order?... Look at the suffering Africa has gone through...so it is the 'leave no one behind' thinking that motivated us to push for it," External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said, while speaking at an event in Kerala.

“Today, PM Vishwakarma Yojana was launched, which shows that the Indian government is committed to providing skills to traditional craftsmen, along with providing the 21st century digitisation skills. This experimental lab will go to the villages of Rajasthan and later to other parts of the country,” said Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan after flagging off 'Skills on Wheels' initiative in Delhi.

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said that the first day of the special session will be held in the Old Parliament building. The next day, i.e., on September 19, there will be a photo session in the Old Parliament House, following that, a function will be held in the Central Hall at 11 am.

“After this, we will enter the new Parliament. Parliament session will start in new Parliament on the September 19 and regular government work there will start from September 20.”

Ahead of Assembly polls, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi said at a rally in Telangana, “There is some case against every opposition leader. ED, CBI, and Income Tax Department are after all the opposition leaders but there is no case against Telangana CM, or there is no case against AIMIM leaders... PM Narendra Modi never attacks his own people, he considers your CM and AIMIM party as his own, hence there is no case against him. He has broken all records of corruption but there is no case against him.”

India has won the Asia Cup 2023, with a dominating 10-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the final of the tournament. Bowling first, the Indian side had bundled up the home team for small score of 50 in 15.2 overs. The target was chased down by them in only 7 overs.

Commenting on the CWC meeting, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and Congress leader DK Shivakumar said: “The meeting was very very fruitful. It will change the face of Telangana and it will change the face of India...we have assured the country that Congress will make a comeback.”
