Kargil Vijay Diwas 2024 Live: Be it Ladakh or Jammu and Kashmir, India will defeat every challenge that comes its way, says PM Modi

In a stern message to Pakistan, PM Modi said, "Pakistan has failed in all its nefarious attempts in the past. But Pakistan has not learned anything from its history. It is trying to keep itself relevant with the help of terrorism and proxy war. Today I am speaking from a place where the masters of terror can hear my voice directly, I want to tell these patrons of terrorism that their nefarious intentions will never succeed. Our soldiers will crush terrorism with full force and the enemy will be given a befitting reply..."

The Shinkun La Tunnel Project involves the construction of a twin-tube tunnel spanning 4.1 km in length. The tunnel will be built at an impressive altitude of approximately 15,800 feet along the Nimu – Padum – Darcha Road, with the primary objective of establishing all-weather connectivity to Leh.

"On Kargil Vijay Diwas, I pay my heartfelt tribute to the immortal martyrs who sacrificed their all to protect India. The country will always remain indebted to them for their supreme sacrifice," Congress leader Rahul Gandhi posted on X.

President Murmu in a post on X said, "I pay tribute to each soldier who made the supreme sacrifice".

In a post on X, Rajnath Singh said, "Today, on the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, we remember the indomitable spirit and courage of the brave soldiers who fought valiantly in the 1999 war."

Indian Army Chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi, Indian Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of Staff, Eastern Command Lieutenant General RC Srikanth, laid wreaths at the Kargil War Memorial in Drass and paid tributes to soldiers who lost their lives in the 1999 Kargil War.

History of Kargil Vijay Diwas: India and Pakistan were involved in the 1971 war, leading to Bangladesh's creation. The animosity continued, especially around the Siachen Glacier. In 1998, nuclear tests by both nations heightened tensions. Despite signing the Lahore Declaration in 1999 for peaceful resolution, Pakistan covertly sent forces to Kargil’s Drass and Batalik sectors. India countered the infiltration, mobilizing 200,000 troops, leading to the Kargil War.

Significance of Kargil Vijay Diwas: Kargil Vijay Diwas commemorates the bravery and sacrifices of Indian soldiers during the 1999 Kargil War. Despite harsh terrain and weather, the Indian Army recaptured vital mountain outposts, compelling Pakistani forces to withdraw. The day honors the soldiers' dedication to protecting India’s sovereignty and is celebrated with great devotion.

On Friday, July 26, heavy rain lashed parts of Delhi and Noida, causing waterlogging and traffic snarls. The IMD issued a “yellow” alert, forecasting continued rain in the region until July 28.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Kargil on July 26 to mark the 25th Kargil Vijay Diwas. He will pay homage to the bravehearts who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. At around 9:20 am, PM Modi will visit the Kargil War Memorial to honor these heroes.
