Jammu and Kashmir: 2 militants killed in encounter in Anantnag

Two militants died in a clash with security forces that took place Saturday in Kashmir's Anantnag district.

The encounter broke out near Halkan Gali in the Shangus-Larnoo area of the south Kashmir district.

Officials told PTI that one local and one foreigner militant were killed in the encounter, though their group affiliations remain unknown.

The operation is underway and further details were awaited, they said.

On Friday, two people from Uttar Pradesh were shot at by militants in Jammu and Kashmir's Budgam district.

The victims, Sufiyan and Usman, were injured after being shot at in the Mazhama area of Magam in the central Kashmir district, according to officials.

They were taken to a hospital and were stated to be in stable condition.

Since Omar Abdullah took office as chief minister, this marked the fifth terrorist attack in the Kashmir Valley.
