COVID-19 curbs | From Tamil Nadu to Uttar Pradesh: All you need to know about cities, states under lockdown, curfew

So far, more than 16.73 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in India, according to Health Ministry data. Of these, over 12 lakh people got jabbed on April 18, the ministry's data showed.

Meanwhile, states have imposed night curfews, weekend curfews and lockdowns in cities and affected districts to slow down the second wave of cases.

Here’s all you need to know about the restrictions:

>> Tamil Nadu:  The Tamil Nadu government has announced clamping a two-week lockdown from May 10.

>> Karnataka: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa has announced lockdown-like restrictions with more stringent curbs from May 10 to May 24 in view of the alarming rise in COVID cases. There was already a curfew in place in the state from April 27, which was to end on May 12.

>> Delhi: COVID-necessitated lockdown in Delhi has been extended till May 17 as the oxygen situation remains under stress. Additionally, metro services will remain suspended during this period.

>> Assam: The Assam government had imposed a night curfew across the state from 8 pm to 5 am with immediate effect, due to its efforts to control the surge in COVID-19 cases.

>> Haryana: The state government has extended its lockdown till May 17.

>> Puducherry: The Puducherry government has announced a total lockdown from April 23 to 26 in the wake of the rising COVID-19 cases.

>> Tripura: The state government had decided to impose a seven-hour night curfew from 10 pm to 5 am in Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) area from April 22 onwards for an indefinite period to contain the spread of COVID-19.

>> Karnataka: The state government has announced a lockdown till May 24. Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa said that all hotels, pubs and bars will remain shut during the period. Shops providing essential items would be allowed to function for a four-hour period between 6 am and 10 am.

>> Kerala: The Kerala government had decided to bring in various restrictions, including imposing night curfew from 9 pm to 5 am from April 20 and malls and cinemas can function only till 7.30 pm.

>> Meghalaya: The Meghalaya government had announced a series of measures in the wake of the rising COVID-19 cases, including banning entry of tourists from other states and reducing attendance at offices to 50 percent.

>> Manipur: The order issued by chief secretary Rajesh Kumar said the consultative committee of COVID-19 chaired by Manipur's Chief Minister N Biren Singh has decided that night curfew will be imposed in the state from 7 pm to 5 am in view of the rapid rise in COVID-19 cases in the country. The order did not specify for how many days the night curfew will be in force.

>> Jammu and Kashmir: The 'corona curfew' in the Union Territory has been extended till May 17.

>> Rajasthan: The state government has ordered a lockdown from May 10 to May 24. During this period, there will be no marriage ceremonies and all religious places will remain closed.

>> Madhya Pradesh - Indore: The administration in Madhya Pradesh's Indore district has extended the partial lockdown it had imposed in light of the COVID-19 spread till April 23. The partial lockdown has been in effect in the district since April 12.

>> Uttar Pradesh: The UP government has extended the lockdown across the state till May 17.

>> Bihar: The Bihar government had decided to impose a night curfew from 9 pm to 5 am as part of new measures to check the spread of COVID-19.

The state has also decided to extend the closure of school, colleges and coaching centres till May 15 from April 30. Religious places of all faiths will remain shut till May 15. Earlier, they were closed till April 30.

>> Uttarakhand: The Uttarakhand government had issued a revised SOP to contain the second wave of the coronavirus, permitting not more than 200 people to attend religious, political and social events like marriages but exempting the ongoing Kumbh Mela at Haridwar from the ambit of the order and extending the night curfew hours for all districts. The new night curfew timings for all districts will be 9 pm to 5 am, it said.

>> Maharashtra: The Maharashtra government had extended the lockdown-like restrictions across the state till May 15.

>> Punjab: The state government has imposed a partial lockdown till May 15. In addition to the existing night curfew and weekend lockdown, the government announced stricter curbs like mandatory negative COVID-19 test report to enter the state and 50 percent staff strength at government offices.

Those who wish to enter Punjab by air, rail or road must have a negative COVID-19 report which is not more than 72-hour old or produces a vaccination certificate, of at least one dose, over two weeks old, the order issued by the Department of Home Affairs said.
