Conrad Sangma, Meghalaya CM | Talking about challenges in connectivity, roads, social welfare and problems faced by the youth, he said, "We are working to solve it. It will not happen in one day. We have constraints, in monetary terms as well but those will have to be mitigated to work for the state's welfare”.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma today said the Centre has allocated Rs 925 crore in 2017-18, Rs 130 more than what was sanctioned in the previous fiscal year.

Sangma, during the question hour in the state Assembly, said Rs 700 crore was sanctioned in 2013-14, Rs 578 crore in 2014-15 and Rs 773 crore in 2015-16, under the North Eastern Council (NEC).

Admitting that in some years, there have been a dip in the allocation to states, Conrad said many reasons accounted for that, without specifying them.

He said 16 schemes have been sanctioned by the NEC for Meghalaya with a total estimated cost of Rs 68.94 crore.
