PM Narendra Modi will visit Nigeria, Brazil and Guyana from 16-21 November

Prime Minister will visit Nigeria from 16-17 November, 2024. This will be the first visit by a Prime Minister of India to Nigeria in 17 years. During the visit, Prime Minister will hold talks to review the strategic partnership between India and Nigeria and discuss further avenues to enhance the bilateral relationship. He will also address a gathering of the Indian community in Nigeria. The PM will travel to Rio De Janeiro during 18-19 November to attend the G20 Summit. Prime Minister will undertake a State Visit to Guyana from 19-21 November. This visit to Guyana will be the first by an Indian Prime Minister since 1968. The bodies of two elderly men, Laishram Balen and Maibam Kesho, were found this morning in Manipur's Jiribam district, where a gunfight took place between suspected militants and security forces the previous day.

The bodies were discovered during a search operation for missing persons in the Jakuradhor Karong area, where militants had set fire to several shops on Monday. A senior officer confirmed that the two men died as a result of the fire set by the insurgents in the area.

The Delhi High Court has issued a notice in response to a petition filed by former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is challenging a sessions court's decision. Kejriwal sought a revision of the sessions court order, which had dismissed his plea against summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The summons were issued due to Kejriwal's non-compliance with previous ED notices.

The ED opposed Kejriwal's petition, and the High Court has scheduled the next hearing for December 19.

Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna announced today that no oral submissions will be allowed for urgent listing and hearing of cases. He instructed lawyers to submit requests via email or written letters instead. Traditionally, lawyers would present their cases before the CJI-led bench at the beginning of the day's proceedings to seek out-of-turn hearings based on urgency. The CJI noted, "Only emails or written letters will be accepted, stating the reasons for urgency."

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is conducting a search operation in the Madhyamgram area of Barasat, North 24 Parganas, as part of an investigation into a money laundering case connected to Bangladeshi infiltration.

Raipur SSP Santosh Singh reported that a Mumbai police team from Bandra arrived at Pandri police station and arrested Faizan Khan in connection with threats made against actor Shah Rukh Khan. Singh stated that Faizan had been issued a notice a few days prior, and following an investigation, he was found guilty and subsequently taken into custody. Faizan Khan is being transported to Mumbai on a transit remand. Additionally, an assault case is already registered against him.

Kasganj DM Medha Roopam provided an update on the sand collapse incident, stating, "Nine women were rescued, with four declared brought dead at the district hospital. The others sustained injuries. The rescue operation was effectively conducted, and we used JCB and excavators to thoroughly check the area, leaving very little chance that anyone else is trapped. NHAI work was underway at the site, and we will take action against any negligence involved. It’s reported that the women were collecting soil for their houses. "Several people had gone to gather soil for a local ritual when the sand wall gave way. Nine individuals were brought to the hospital, with four women succumbing to their injuries. The remaining five are in stable condition; two of the more seriously injured have been referred to Aligarh for further treatment, while the others are receiving care locally," stated Kasganj Chief Medical Officer, Rajeev Agarwal.

In Kasganj, a large mound of soil collapsed, trapping several women who were gathering soil for their homes. Rescue efforts are underway, and further details are awaited.

Six people lost their lives in a car accident in Dehradun late last night. One passenger remains in critical condition and is receiving treatment in the hospital.

According to Dehradun SP City Pramod Kumar, the accident occurred around 2 a.m. near the ONGC intersection. The driver of the container truck that collided with the Innova has been taken into custody, he told ANI.

Despite multiple actions by central agencies, they have found nothing substantial and have been unable to establish any charges.
