The Supreme Court, addressing an appeal that alleged a "scandal" in the awarding of the Dharavi redevelopment contract to the Adani Group, set forth certain conditions on March 7 but refrained from stalling the project, according to a report by CNBC-TV18. The court stated that the project is "subject to court orders.”
This observation was made as the apex court accepted the plea from Seychelles-based SecLink Group. SecLink Group claims that the tender conditions were modified in favour of Adani Properties, a division of the Adani Group.
According to SecLink, while Adani Properties offered Rs 5,069 crore, their bid was lower than SecLink's at Rs 7,200 crore, with the latter willing to boost it further to Rs 8,640 crore.
The court issued notices to the Maharashtra government and Adani Properties and has listed the matter for hearing on May 25.
According to the CNBC-TV18 report, the apex court sought a response on SecLink's ouster from the project. Observing that SecLink was the highest bidder in 2018, the court questioned if the state government is entitled to cancel the tender and also if conditions were altered to oust SecLink.
