Eight held for consuming drugs

Visakhapatnam (AP), Feb 6 (PTI) At least eight youths, including three college students, were caught by the police while they were allegedly injecting themselves with drugs today. A huge quantity of the Fortwin injections containing the narcotic drug Pentazocine was recovered from the group, after the police raided the outskirts of Bheemunipatnam town. "Gowri Sankara Rao of Tadichetlapalem in the city has allegedly been importing Fortwin vials from Berhampur in Odisha and supplying drug addicted youth," the police said. The police revealed that the group injected themselves with Fortwin twice a day and often met at the layout located between the Visakhaptnam-Bheemumipatnam road. In addition to Fortwin, they also smoked cigarettes mixed with ganja, the police said. "At least 40 vials of Fortwin drug, cigarettes containing ganja and injection syringes have been recovered from them. A hunt is on for the supplier who has absconded," the police said.
