Popular Arunachal bands to campaign against HIV/AIDS

Itanagar, Feb 07 (PTI) Popular bands – The Alien Gods and Carnal Sins and The Red Ribbon Superstars will campaign against HIV/AIDS during the third edition of the Multi Media Campaign in Arunachal Pradesh. Stressing on the use of condoms, Parliamentary Secretary for Health & Family Welfare Nido Pavitra said HIV could be prevented by using them and highlighted the four routes of HIV transmission. Pavitra, who launched the campaign renamed 'Live Another Day, Journey Against AIDS' yesterday at the Boori Yullo festival at Taya Simla village in Lower Subansiri district, said that the prevention was the only vaccine against HIV. He said that people living with HIV should not be discriminated against. "You never know when HIV sneaks into one’s life. "There is no cure, but it can be prevented." Yumring Nokpa, General Secretary of Arunachal Network of Positive People who is HIV positive and is accompanying the MMC team, shared his experiences with the gathering. This year the MMC would cover eight highly vulnerable districts of Lower Subansiri, Upper Subansiri, West Siang, East Siang, Lower Dibang Valley, Lohit, Tirap and Changlang. PTI UPL PC
