Will India soon export Vande Bharat trains? Yes, said state-owned heavy equipment manufacturer BEML Ltd chairman Shantanu Roy in an interview to the Economic Times.
The report said that the firm plans to commence the work related to export of Vande Bharat and metro trains as early as next year. Among the top markets that BEML is likely to target include South America, ASEAN nations and Middle East region, Roy was quoted as saying.
At present, BEML is totally focussed on the indigenous production, Roy said. However, he added that “something” may come up on the export front for Vande Bharat trains.
At present, the heavy equipment-maker is producing first prototype of Vande Bharat sleeper coach for the Indian Railways, the report added. Roy also said that the company will aim at growing the present 4 percent exports to 10 percent in the near future.
Talking about the new growth strategy, Roy said that the company’s operations have been divided into three key areas. These are – defence, mining and metro and rail.
In terms of the profitability, Roy said that the state-run b company has seen better numbers in recent times versus the previous performance.
He also said that this year’s Ebidta growth guidance is at 13 percent. He said that in near future, the company would aim to achieve Ebidta of 16-17 percent
