Shares of Wockhardt ended 0.7 percent higher after rising 3.7 percent intraday Wednesday on getting unrestricted good manufacturing practice (GMP) certificate from UK health regulator for L1-Chikalthana after an inspection.
"The company has undergone recently an inspection at its L1-Chikalthana, Aurangabad manufacturing facility by UK MHRA and have received a communication confirming the closure of the inspection and issuance of an unrestricted GMP certificate," the pharma company said in its filing.
In October, Wockhardt had said United Kingdom Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (UKMHRA) had completed inspection of its Chikalthana plant without issuing any critical observations on the facility.
The UK regulator had, in October 2013, withdrawn the GMP certificate to Chikalthana plant and had also initiated recall of five prescription medicines from there.
With this approval, the company may resume full supplies to the UK market from Chikalthana in few months.
Sources told CNBC-TV18 that the US Food and Drug Administration also inspected Chikalthana plant few months ago. The company is yet to get inspection report from US FDA for this unit.(With inputs from PTI)
