Ride-hailing major Ola Cabs has shifted from Google Maps and has fully integrated to its in-house Ola Maps for operations, saving nearly Rs 100 crore a year.

"After Azure exit last month, we’ve now fully exited google maps. We used to spend Rs 100 crore a year but we’ve made that 0 this month by moving completely to our in house Ola maps! Check your Ola app and update if needed, " Said Bhavish Aggarwal, cofounder and Chairman of Ola Group.

The announcement comes three months after Ola group of companies completed the shift of its entire workload to in-house artificial intelligence (AI) firm Krutrim after snapping ties with Microsoft Azure.

On May 11, Aggarwal wrote on X that the firm was cutting ties with Microsoft Azure and would move the entire workload to its AI firm Krutrim within a week.

While launching the firm's Krutrim AI, the firm said that there will be mapping solutions as well within the cloud services.

In addition to AI compute, Ola Maps intends to provide location intelligence services including mapping and location-based ones to developers.

Ola had acquired GeoSpoc, a Pune-based provider of geospatial services, in October 2021. Ola Maps currently powers the mapping needs of the company's flagship ride-hailing app.

The company had also announced plans to roll out Ola Maps to its electric two-wheelers as part of a software update in January.
