Ramco Cements has resolved a dispute regarding the disallowance of CENVAT (Central Value Added Tax) credit on outward freight, leading to a reduction in contingent liabilities by ₹1.11 Crores. The resolution follows an order dated August 11, 2025, from the Original Authority, dropping further proceedings.
The dispute, concerning the disallowance of CENVAT credit on outward freight, was previously appealed by Ramco Cements before the CESTAT (Customs, Excise, and Service Tax Appellate Tribunal). The matter was then remanded back to the Assistant Commissioner of GST and Central Excise, Villupuram, as per CESTAT orders dated September 10, 2024. Following a hearing, the Original Authority issued an order on August 11, 2025, which resolved the issue, resulting in the ₹1.11 Crores reduction in contingent liabilities.
Ramco Cements also updated its assessment of similar pending disputes with various statutory authorities. As of August 2025, these disputes amount to ₹6.89 Crores, a decrease from the ₹8 Crores reported on April 2, 2025.
