Nifty may open in green; US mkt down, Asia trades mixed

Asia is mixed early today with Nikkei correcting 0.5 percent from the day‘s high to trade flattish. The Kospi sees follow through selling. Straits is the only positive index.

The Nifty is likely to open in the green today with indicator SGX Nifty trading at 7922, up 24 points at 7:40.

In a solid start to this week, the Sensex on Monday inched back above the 26,000 mark, while the Nifty reconquered 7,900.

Asian equities traded mixed early today with Nikkei correcting 0.5 percent from the day’s high to trade flattish. The Kospi sees follow through selling. Straits is the only positive index.

Among other markets, US stocks closed lower in light volume trade as a renewed slide in oil prices weighed. Energy closed down nearly 1.8 percent to lead S&P 500 decline taking the index back into negative territory for the year so far.

In other asset classes, the US dollar holds near a more than one-week low against a basket of major currencies as some traders take profits ahead of year- end.

Crude prices fell over 3 percent with Brent back near 11-year lows as oversupply concerns weighed.
