Mining Bill to dig grave for metal space in near-term: IIFL

In an exclusive interview with CNBC-TV18, he says for about the next one or two quarters, the metal stocks would be ‘under pressure’ due to the introduction of Mining Bill. However, much to the relief of long-term investors, he adds, "we would be stock selective in this sector for a long term period investment."

While the coal ministry says its is a bid to boost the country's mineral output and is unlikely to impact revenues of coal companies, the introduction of Mining Bill is set to cut down EPS of many companies in the metal sector for the near-term.

"The EPS impact of the mining bill will be almost 9-10% on stocks like Hindustan Zinc. Tata Steel would be impacted by 6-7%," observes Tarang Bhanushali, Research Analyst at IIFL.
