Nifty, Sensex slips 1.6% this week

Equity benchmarks closed lower this week - the 30-share BSE Sensex tanked 279.54 points or 1.55%, to end at 17,728.61 and the 50-share NSE Nifty settled the trade at 5,310, down 85.75 points or 1.6%.

Equity benchmarks closed lower this week - the 30-share BSE Sensex tanked 279.54 points or 1.55%, to end at 17,728.61 and the 50-share NSE Nifty settled the trade at 5,310, down 85.75 points or 1.6%.

The BSE Metal Index went down 5.5% and BSE Realty Index down 4.5%. Capital Goods, Healthcare, IT and Oil & Gas indices were down 2-3%.

Among frontliners, Reliance Communications, Reliance Capital, Reliance Power, Hindalco and Reliance Infrastructure tanked 10-15%.

Sesa Goa, BHEL, Tata Steel and TCS fell 5-7.5%.

The Nifty Junior lost 3% and CNX Midcap Index plunged 3.4%. The BSE Small-cap Index crashed 6.2%.

Unitech cracked 20%. Lanco Infratech slipped 16% and GVK Power lost 10%.

Among midcaps, Parsvnath Developers plunged 37%. Punj Lloyd fell 20%. Alok and IVRCL Infra were down 11%.
