Why is IDFC Sec bullish on banks?

Pathik Gandotra of IDFC Securities is positive on banks as he thinks the valuation of the sector has become attractive. In an interview to CNBC-TV18, Gandotra said that concerns in the banking space over banking though have reduced but not over yet.

According to him, net interest margins (NIMs) of banks will not take a hit. He is hoping that volume growth will drive private sector banks. He has upgraded PSU banks from sell to buy. Gandotra likes ICICI Bank and Axis Bank and is bullish on IndusInd Bank, ING Vysya, and Yes Bank in the private banking space. He likes BoB, Canara Bank and OBC among PSU banks.
