Geological calamity in Japan could influence inflation numbers in the next few weeks. The fall in equities, and resultant weakness in rupee has made domestic prices of spices and condiments tight as export demand has improved with a weak rupee helping our quotes to be more competitive in international markets. As a result, the the contribution of spices complex to the inflation numbers is expected to continue rising. Marine fish prices may ease as exports to Japan would be hit. Incidentally prices of both inland fish as well as marine fish had eased last week.
