Sanjiv Goenka, the younger son of billionaire industrialist Rama Prasad Goenka, who built the Rs 16,000 crore industrial conglomerate RPG Enterprises, today unveiled a new corporate identity for the companies controlled by him.
"I am happy and delighted to present before you the new group identity -- RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group," the chairman of the new group, Sanjiv Goenka, said today.
Henceforth, all the Sanjiv Goenka-controlled companies like CESC, Phillips Carbon Black, Saregama and some unlisted companies will not use the RPG Enterprises corporate identity anymore.
The RP-Sanjiv Goenka group companies have a combined revenue of Rs 9,000 crore, market capitalisation of Rs 4,500 crore and asset base of Rs 14,000 crore.
The decision was taken by Sanjiv Goenka, a sixth generation Goenka family member, after the assets of the RPG Group were divided among Rama Prasad Goenka's two sons -- Harsh Goenka, based in Mumbai, and Sanjiv Goenka, in Kolkata -- in early 2010.
Mumbai-based agency Law & Kenneth was assigned to create a new design, logo and future communication strategy for the corporate brand of the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group.
Sanjiv Goenka will be the Group Chairman of his newly created group. For CESC and Saregama, R P Goenka would continue to be the Chairman and would also hold Chairman Emeritus status for the remaining companies of the new group.
Harsh Goenka, the eldest son of R P Goenka, will continue to use the RPG Enterprises corporate identity.
"There is no change from our end and we will continue to use the RPG Enterprises identity as we are doing," a Harsh Goenka group spokesperson said.
RPG Enterprises was never a holding company or investment company for the group, Sanjiv Goenka said.
CESC is the flagship company of the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group. The other companies are Noida Power Company, Integrated Coal Mining Ltd, Phillips Carbon Black, Spencers Retail, Music World, Au Bon Pain Cafe, Saregama, Open Media Network and CESC Properties. KEC International is the flagship company of the Harsh Group and the other companies in its stable include Ceat, RPG Life Sciences and Zensar Technologies.
Only the plantation company, Harrrisons Malayalam, is yet to be legally separated and is actively controlled by R P Goenka.
Now, two Separate Business Units (SBUs) of Harrison have been created and each is controlled by the two brothers and a legal division of the company would be done within a year, Sanjiv Goenka said.
