HMT forays into making DG sets, rotavators

Tractor major HMT Ltd today said it will foray into manufacturing of generator sets and rotavators and is eyeing sales of Rs 10 crore in one and a half year.

Tractor major HMT Ltd today said it will foray into manufacturing of generator sets and rotavators and is eyeing sales of Rs 10 crore in one and a half year.

"We are entering into manufacture of DG sets to take advantage of increasing gap between demand and supply of power. Besides, we will also manufacture rotavators at our plant at Mohali," company's Joint General Manager, Jatinder

Vijh said here today adding that the company is looking at sales of Rs 10 crore in next one and half years.

The new DG sets as well as rotavators will be rolled out at the agrotech fair starting tomorrow here. "The manufacturing capacity of DG sets (25 KVA) will be 500 units and for rotavators it will 1000 units per six months," he said.

The DG set will meet the central pollution control boards strngent emission norms and has been equipped with hi-techengine monitoring and safety system, he said.

HMT, which has annual turnover of Rs 160 crore from tractor business, will also roll out two new models of tractors in the capacity of 50 HP and 65 HP. The 50 HP and 65 HP tractors will carry price tag of Rs 4.51 lakh and 5.50 lakh, respectively.
