Nitin Nohria appointed Director of Tata Sons

The appointment of Nohria, the Dean of Harvard Business School, as a Non-Executive Director on its board, will be with effect from today.

Tata Sons, the promoter of major operating companies of the salt-to-software conglomerate Tata group, today said it has appointed Nitin Nohria, the Dean of Harvard Business School, as a Non-Executive Director on its board.

The appointment of Nohria will be with effect from today, Tata Sons said in a statement. He is also the George F Baker Professor of Business Administration and previously served as co-chair of the HBS Leadership Initiative, Senior Associate Dean of Faculty Development and Head of the Organisational Behaviour Unit of Harvard Business School, it added. Prior to joining the Harvard Business School faculty in July 1988, Nohria received his PhD in Management from the Sloan School of Management, Massachusetts Institute of
Technology, and a B.Tech in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.

He was also a visiting faculty member at the London Business School in 1996. He has also served as an adviser and consultant to several large and small companies in different parts of the world.
