The 2G probe seems to be picking up pace, with the CBI tightening its noose over many high-profiled officials in the telecom space. The probe may soon reach DMK patriarch Karunanidhi's doorstep. CNBC-TV18's Siddharth Zarabi reports.

Sources close to the CBI say Tamil Nadu chief minister and DMK chief M Karunanidhi's daughter Kanimozhi is likely to be called in for questioning by the investigating agency.

DMK-owned Kalainagar TV's Sharad Kumar also likely to be called by the CBI.

The case was brought to light after telephonic conversations between Kanimozhi with corporate lobbyist Nira Radia, were made public.

There was a growing sense of expectation within the telecom industry that the CBI, under the directives of the Supreme Court (SC), will continue to question all the promoters and senior executives of all companies since 2001.

Some other senior executives, promoter-level persons of other telecom companies are likely to be summoned by the CBI in the days to come.
