Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the 10,000th Jan Aushadhi Kendra at AIIMS, Deoghar on November 30 along with it he also pledged to increase the number of such kendras from 10,000 to 25,000.
The decision is in line with the vision to make healthcare more affordable and accessible in the country. The Jan Aushadhi Kendra is a campaign launched by the Department of Pharmaceuticals along with the Central Pharma Public Sector Undertakings to sell medicines at affordable prices to the masses.
PM Modi also interacted with "Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra" beneficiaries via video conferencing. The scheme is a nationwide outreach initiative to spread awareness about schemes and programmes from the Union government. The interaction aimed to raise awareness about such welfare schemes and benefits.
The PM also announced the launch of the Pradhan Mantri Mahila Kisan Drone Kendra. The initiative will provide 15,000 drones to Women Self Help Groups (SHGs) over the next three years. The scheme is aimed at helping women self-help groups with livelihood assistance. Women can rent out the drones to farmers for agricultural assistance.
